JENS MUNK: AN EXPEDITION AHEAD OF IT'S TIME
The Danish Canadian Club is hosting a Speaker night featuring a talk on the attempt 400 years ago by Jens Munk to find the Northwest Passage from Denmark. The expedition ultimately resulted in Munk and his crew being stuck in Hudson Bay (Churchill River) through the Canadian winter. He came closer to finding the Northwest Passage thank anyone had before, two hundred years before Franklin, and 300 years before Amundsen.
The evening starts at 5:30 with dinner being served at 6pm followed by a presentation by Carl Sørensen, Board member for the Danish Canadian Museum in Dickson, and a member of the Jens Munk Committee.
Menu: Smoked salmon served on a bed of spinach.
Frikadeller served with red cabbage , potatoes and gravy.
Lemon Mousse for dessert.
