From a dairy farm in Denmark to the prestigious canine unit of the Calgary Police Service.

Come and listen to Jens Lind's story of how he grew up in Denmark, and later immigrated to Canada, where he eventually joined the Calgary Police Service for a fulfilling career.

Jens will be sharing some of his favourite moments from Denmark and Canada, but also how his tenacity and perseverance got him into the Calgary Police Service, and later on, the highly sought after and prestigious canine unit. Hear his personal account of career highlights, humorous moments and the excitement of serving fellow Calgarians, and at times, neighbouring provinces.

Jens Lind grew up on a farm in Denmark, but always had a desire to explore North America. This dream took him to Canada in 1985, where he worked on a farm northeast of Drumheller for seven months. Following this initial trip, Jens returned to Denmark where he served in the military at the Royal Danish Guards. Following his service  in the military his adventurous spirit took him back to Canada, and in 1993 he graduated from the University of Calgary with a Bachelor of Physical Education ( Kinesiology )

Since the age of 10, Jens had the dream of being a police officer, and began pursuing this aspiration. In 1997, he was accepted into the Calgary Police Service and graduated from their academy six months later.

During his last 22 years with the Calgary Police Service, Jens has had the privilege of working in the following areas: patrol, high enforcement auto-theft team, district response team, and the canine unit which was his highlight for eight years. In 2015, Jens was promoted to Sergeant in patrol, the field training unit and Calgary centralized intelligence unit. Throughout Jens' career, work has allowed him to travel to many areas of Western Canada and the U.S. for courses or special assignments. Some of his highlights were the Force Science Analyst Certification in Orlando. Cadaver Detection course in Wyoming and the Police Canine  Conference in Las Vegas..

In his spare time, Jens enjoys the outdoors, whether it is camping, hiking in the mountains or kayaking the rivers during run off. He has even been known to go over the odd waterfall on purpose. He loves his family, and always enjoys a glass of wine over a good meal with great company and some Danish " hygge "
