Austrian Canadian Society
The Austrian Canadian Society has been in Calgary since 1964. Until their current home was built the Austrian community would hold events in the old Danish Canadian Club on 11th Ave.

In June 2025 we reunited and are now both located at 3112 11st NE. The Austrian and Danish Flags fly proudly on either side of the Canadian Maple Leaf from the second floor.

We share many events together as well as a joint Austrian - Danish Menu in both the Hubertus Lounge and Mermaid Inn Restaurant.

Dickson Store Museum

Dickson is the oldest Danish settlement in Western Canada, as well as the home to the largest Danish settlement on the Canadian Prairies. It was settled in 1903 by seventeen Danish settlers from Nebraska. The 17 original Danish settlers came to the Dickson region in hopes of owning their own land and establishing a future for their families.

Restoration of the store began in 1987 through the unselfish efforts of many dedicated volunteers, and in 1991 it was officially opened as a museum by Queen Margrethe II of Denmark. The Dickson Store Museum is a 1930’s restoration of the general store, post office, cold room, and living quarters.

The museum is open 7 days-a-week until Labour Day.

Monday through Saturday: 10 am to 5 pm
Sundays: 11 am to 5 pm.
